Bright Star’s exploration and development efforts are focused on discovering lithium resources in deep subsurface brine reservoirs that are typically associated with oil and gas formations. The specific geologic formation below Brashear is known as the Smackover Formation, which is more than 2 miles below the surface and has no direct link to potable drinking water aquifers in the region. The Smackover is a highly porous limestone that doesn’t require fracture stimulation, also known in the oil and gas industry as fracking, to access or liberate the
lithium-rich brine from this formation.
Utilizing proven drilling, casing and production techniques used in the oil and gas industry, saltwater containing lithium can be pumped to the surface, where the lithium can be separated through an innovative process called direct lithium extraction (DLE).

To determine if your land is a strong candidate, there are a few key factors to consider.

Our leasing agreements currently require at least 10 acres of land to lease. The smaller the land parcel, the more difficult it is to drill and develop.
Continuous Land
If your land is continuous — meaning it is interconnected rather than multiple parcels spread across different areas — you have a higher likelihood of lithium development. Consolidated land allows for more efficient exploration and development.
Mineral Ownership Rights
Owning the surface of your land does not necessarily mean you own the minerals beneath it. Since lithium is classified as a mineral, only the mineral rights owner can lease the land for exploration and development.
